Endha Poovilum Vasam Undu - Murattukalai

Yet another IR number. This is a beautiful folk that IR has delivered and his love for western music is clearly depicted through this classic inspiration. This song is originally by Antonio Ruiz-Pipo, one of the greatest European virtuoso pianist and composer. Its a treat to listen to this guitar notes and realize how this western classical has transformed into an Indian folk (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iy_Yx0cLd5o)

Now coming back to my rendition, I sat with this song thinking its an easy go and ended up with atleast 15 takes . Trust me, its a really tricky song wrt ups and downs while maintaining that taalam in samam. I really was startled as to how SJ sang it with so ease and how the legend composed it. I am actually getting out of cold and you could easily identify it with my 'karakara' throat. As usual have mixing problems, punching problems and I am a bad tailor still stitching things together . Pls bear with me. Appreciate your honest feedback.

Now,you have such a nice voice :).
In some of the places like pudhu uravu, pudhu ninaivu it sounded out of pitch.swarams goes like rgmpm rsnrs..It dint fall it the right swarasthanams..In other portions too in the charanam. This is not at all an easy song.Very trivial sangathis..Seems to be like your struggling a bit in the higher registers. While recording you pause and then record..It showed up in many places..even I am not very good at it..Need to learn a lot :).Slight improvement, practice would help you a lot.I loved your voice :).On the whole it was very enjoyable :).Keep singing:).

Hey Meena

Thanks for such a detailed feedback. I am not that technical to identify the swarams yet. Yes higher registers were unsusally a problem with me this time. Generally I am comfy at higher notes but this song was very tricky for the rhythm and the sangathis+ the cold factor leading to karakara throat :) and my recording skills are not matured yet, so pls bear with my stone age techniques. Thanks once again for a time.I wud love to connect with you to know how you identify swarasthaanams. It will help me a lot in tuning my shruti.
